Coaching or Therapy ??

One toe at a time..

Worry...? It’s been said that out of every 10 worries we have in our lives.... 3 cannot be changed anyway (so why worry..?) 6 will never eventuate (so why worry..?) ....and so we should work on changing our attitude and state of mind to deal with the 1 remaining! Rather - enjoy the journey.. We spend so much time concerned with the baggage of the past, what has been ‘done before’ and plenty of time – dreaming of the future. We should be enjoying the present – taking our learnings from the past and setting our direction on the future… So why haven’t you?…. The greatest barrier to any change is inaction. We seem to be paralysed by choices (or the lack of them!). Maybe this is how you feel in your life? – the biggest thing holding most of us back is simply making a decision to take action!! So how do I start? One toe at a time... If the analogy of being stuck is like being in the middle of a shallow lake - you could go in any direction, but seem to be paralyzed by Too many choices (which shore do I head towards?) Fear of the…

Everyone worries…!!!!

Everyone worries... Will I get the promotion? Will I sell my house? Will my daughter make the hockey team? Do I worry too much? All these thoughts can overwhelm us and affect our quality of life. Why Worry? What is worry and why do we do it? Worrying is a state of mind that occurs when you fear that something negative will happen in the future or that you have caused harm to someone in the past. Thinking through life’s problems is necessary in order to assess a situation, take action, and create a desired outcome. Sometimes, instead of focusing on a solution, we become caught in unresolved concerns. At this stage, we are no longer moving forward because we are caught in a cycle of worrying. A great deal of time and energy is often spent agonizing over things we are powerless to change. This worrying may stop us from taking risks or achieving our goals. Often, people get into a pattern of focusing on the same worry for months, even years. They live afraid of the “what ifs” and begin to make their life’s decisions out of fear. Mark Twain wisely stated, “I am an old man and have…

Procrastination?

I'll look up the word tomorrow....... What can taking ACTION  do for you, today? "An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied."  - Arnold Glasow   It is amazing how quickly an idea can turn into exceptional results by just being courageous enough to take a next step, any step. How do you get courage? If you have an idea then you probably have doubt, couple this with commitment and action and you have true courage. Courage is a quality of spirit that enables you to face danger or pain without showing fear. Most people fail not because their ideas were flawed but because they didn’t take action. Not taking action allows doubt to become fear causing a state many of us know as procrastination. Procrastination from the latin meaning ‘forward and belonging to tomorrow’ has somehow become a badge of honour, a viable ‘action’ one can take. This is all just simply not true. Habitual carelessness or laziness is what is really happening in these circumstances. How do you break this pattern? Take Action!    Decide, Commit and Act, take your next step.   When is it time to take the next step you…
